Currently, the number of Chinese personnel in RMN is considered very low.
MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon said more Chinese youths were needed to join the RMN, not just as a source of income but also to show patriotism and jointly safeguard the country's peace.
"Apart from a brighter future, a career in the RMN also promises many advantages including the opportunity to discover the world," he said at a press conference here Thursday.
Chong is also deputy education minister.
RMN Communications and War director, Kepten Chan Peng Cheong said the RMN was recruiting personnel for the rank of Laskar Muda, for those aged 18 to 23.
He said the Laskar Muda rank, with a minimum Sijil Pelajran Malaysia (SPM) qualification would enjoy a monthly salary, including allowances amounting to RM1,752 a month.
