M’sia not joining military ops - Hishamuddin

Malaysia will not take part in military operations should Saudi Arabia decide to go on a large-scale war against the Islamic State.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, in saying this, added that Malaysian armed forces personnel based in Riyadh were not involved in “offensive action”.

“They are not designed and not trained to go on the offensive.

“Also, they do not have the required assets. Their main role there is to ensure that the aircraft are serviceable and safe to be used by peacekeeping missions,” he said in reply to Tian Chua (PKR-Batu).

Saudi envoy lauds Malaysia’s role in combating terrorism

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 — The authorities’ recent success in detaining terror suspects and Islamic State supporters, received praise from Saudi Arabian envoy Fahad Abdullah Al-Rashid, who felt that in this regard Malaysia could somewhat contribute towards the Saudi Arabia-led alliance of 34 Muslim nations in combating terrorism.

The ambassador to Malaysia said that this country was an important and advanced Islamic nation, not only in terms of its military but also its intelligence unit.

“Malaysia’s strength in the intelligence unit is highly welcomed in this alliance,” he told Bernama in a recent interview.

Malaysia's Participation In Alliance 34 Only To Share Information - MAF Chief

PORT DICKSON, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's participation in the alliance of 34 Islamic countries headed by Saudi Arabia to combat militant activities and violence is only to share information and does not involve military operation.

Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) chief General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin said Malaysia's participation in the alliance was in line with the nation's policy to fight any form of violence.

"It is just an alliance of 34 countries to combat violence, it does not involve military alliance, it is not a military pact, just a loose alliance.

Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Receives Commander of Malaysian Army


Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, recently received the Commander of Malaysian Army, General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Bin Raja Mohamed Noor  .

During the meeting, the Commander of Malaysian Army stressed Malaysia's stance towards "Determination Storm" and all measures taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to protect its security and the GCC and region security.

The meeting was attended by Abdurrahman Al-Rebiaan, Saudi Deputy Minister of Interior.
