Malaysian Armed forces to adopt new strategic devt plan

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Malaysian Armed Forces plan to adopt the Fourth Dimension as its new strategic development plan.

Malaysian Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Datuk (Dr) Zulkiefli Mohd Zin said the plan is to transform the armed forces into a Full Spectrum Force that is versatile, credible and balanced.

“The new armed forces are capable of overcoming threats in one spectrum that comes from the traditional threat to non-traditional threat.

“The implementation of the transformation will be based on balanced trilogy of ‘man’, ‘machine’ and ‘method’,” he said in his text of speech read by First Division Infantry commander Major General Datuk Stephen Mundaw at the parade to mark the 82nd Malaysian Armed Forces Day at Padang Kawad Muara Tuang Camp, Kota Samarahan near here yesterday.

The theme for the celebration was ‘ATM Perkasa, Kedaulatan Terpelihara’.

He added that to have a full spectrum of army required precise planning and strong commitment.

“It will also expand the role and duty of every Malaysian Armed Forces personnel at every level to redouble their efforts and commitment to ensure the success of this ‘Transformation Forces’,” he elaborated.

Zulkiefli assured that the army would continue to be the ‘The Shield of The Nation’ and always be on the highest alert for all types of threats and remain professional despite the challenges they face in this modern era and warfare.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that the government would continue to look after the welfare of the army.

“Soon the government will announce to build more family homes in the whole country and these efforts will strengthen the fighting spirit of the Malaysian Armed Forces to serve the country better,” he said.

He thanked members of ‘Badan Kebajikan Angkatan Tentera’ (Bakat) for playing an active role in looking after the welfare of families of Armed Forces personnel.

Later, he presented certificates and incentives to children of army personnel who did well in their studies.

The parade involved 680 rank-and-file personnel and 90 officers, including those from the Air Force and Navy. (The Borneo Post)
